I was hesitant after reading the many reviews that this was fast (15 mph) and that's true - it is! After the initial shock and crash (on it's own - it got away from him) he has mastered it with little effort. The handbrake is a bit tricky for little hands, so most of the time he uses his feet to help him slow down! However, this moped is easy to maneuver, is a lot of fun, and charges relatively quickly. If you are buying this as a surprise, the box is a big giant picture in four color of the moped, and there is some assembly required. They said it takes about 15 minutes, but I would give it more like an hour! It comes with the tools though, but make sure you buy the special "schrader" (you can get this at Toys R Us) bike pump to inflate the tires (although we have not had to do that yet, but they are NOT easy to inflate due to the angle of the spokes). Overall, great for years of enjoyment, and fun for adults too! The green color is great for both boys and girls, and all his friends want to ride it!

I bought one of these for my 12-year-old son last Christmas, and it's been the best present I ever purchased. He's ridden it to the library, park and garage sales - even to the store to pick up milk for the family. It's been amazingly durable, and it goes for miles on a single charge. If it was just a LITTLE bigger, I'd get one for myself. Razor says it will hold up to 220 pounds, so if you're a small adult or just not too proud, this would be a good way to avoid high gas prices for short trips!

My daughter got this for her birthday and just loves it. It charges in less then three hours although it says 8, the charge lasts for a good hour, it's comfy, cute and safe. She had been wanting and electric scooter for a few years but all of the ones we had seen cost hundreds more. For the price this is perfect. And it looks adorable, whenever she rides it people driving by will slow down to watch her, people walking by will stop to look. All of her friends want one, it looks just like a small vespa. And one of her most favorite things is the "trunk" it's very roomy and secure.

The drawbacks: The headlight is faux, and there are no reflectors on it at all, you definitely want to add some reflective stickers or even a couple lights. My daughter even added a "rear view" mirror as well as a compass/bell. The other major drawback is that instead of using a key to turn it on or off it just has a simple switch, so you do need a bike chain.
